Biography
I was born in Venlo in 1958. I have loved drawing all my life. In high school I had drawing lessons from Toon van de Ven (painter, draftsman and graphic artist (19-10-1924 to 16-6-2006)), which is also clearly visible in my work from that time. I drew a lot of surreal fantasy figures at the time. Later at the Pedagogical Academy I naturally chose drawing as my specialization. I then had drawing lessons from Willebrord de Winter (painter, draftsman and sculptor (14-10-1941 to present)). You can mainly see his influence in my realistic pencil sketches. Perhaps my uncle (An)to(o)n Vollebergh (painter, draftsman and designer (14-1-1938 to 17-12-1993)) also had some influence. My further development has been completely self-taught (except for the instructions of my husband Huub Simons (painter, draftsman and illustrator (9-9-1955 to present)) regarding digital drawing and photography). In addition to the Textile Methods course at the Pedagogical Academy, I took a silk painting course in Germany and a quilting course in the Netherlands. I have always enjoyed trying out new techniques and new materials, which is also reflected in my work.
